about

I went to another funeral. He was younger than me. He had a young daughter that will grow up with only the memories of her dad. He had gotten clean, but then he was gone. They talked about his life, his faith, and his struggle.

This one is for the strugglers, the addicts, and those who can't admit they have a problem. Find help. Find love. Find faith. Love your kids. We'll leave on a light.

lyrics

We talk about faith
Like we know just what it is
But can I hold it in my fingers?
Can I hand it down to my kids?
When will they learn
That their daddy ain't bulletproof?
That he bleeds just like the rest?
Oh God, what if they knew?

Would they run to meet me at the door
When I came home each night?
And what if I couldn't make it home
Would they leave on a light?
Would that light keep burning bright by the entry door
If I couldn't find my way home anymore?

Those little eyes
I wish I knew just what they see
Cause when I look in this mirror
I ain't half the man they need

A tattered Bible in my hand
And tears upon my cheeks
I know you'll never understand
The darkest parts of me
Father forgive me
Lord have mercy on my soul
If I couldn't find my way home anymore

Take a young child and sit them in front of a piano with music books, and they may eventually play the notes on the page. But there is a depth and richness to music that comes only from standing in the midst of a whirlwind. That’s where the real music starts to take shape- the kind that speaks to the core of your soul and cries out for what you were created for. These are the whirlwind songs. ... more
